Microsoft Excel "Quick
Tip"
Insert
A Division Symbol In Excel (XL2000-XL2010)
Sometimes
you may need to show a division symbol
(÷) in your worksheet instead of the forward slash (/). I
often use it in column headings and explanation notes (e.g. Net Returns ÷ Sales
or C÷D).
Since
Excel uses the forward slash (/) as the division operator in
calculating formulas, you can use
the division symbol only in text.
To
insert a division symbol, hold
down the ALT
key and type 0247. Then release the ALT key.
Note: You must use the numeric keypad, not the numbers on the top row of your keyboard.
